Volvo has taken a bigger role with the peak body for trucking operators, the ATA by becoming an associate member of the association.
In a statement the ATA revealed that as an associate Volvo can now participate in the development of ATA policy, internal committees such as the Industry Technical Council, and the ATA General Council.
ATA Chair Geoff Crouch said Volvo has a long history in transport and that it had always been a strong supporter of the trucking industry.
“With a passion for improving road safety, Volvo has been a great supporter of industry initiatives like the Volvo ATA Safety Truck – a campaign that will educate young drivers and vulnerable road users about how to share the road safely with trucks,” Mr Crouch said.
Volvo vice president of sales Tony O’Connell says the company believed strengthening its relationship with the ATA will only serve to benefit everybody involved in the industry.
“The ATA has provided a platform for Volvo Trucks to promote our safety messages. Safety is in our DNA. Extending our partnership by joining the body as an associate member allows us to emphasise the importance of safety in our industry,” said Tony O’Connell.
