The US-based EV manufacturer Triton Electric Vehicle, that’s Triton not to be confused with the VW controlled commercial vehicle operation Traton, has signed an agreement with the Gujarat government to set up a commercial electric vehicle manufacturing plant at Bhuj in India.
Triton Electric Vehicle says it will set up the plant over 645-acre land with an annual production capacity of 50,000 trucks.
The Gujarati state government in India is reported to be assisting with approvals and the registration process for the establishment of the plant.
Triton Electric Vehicle will start building the plant with an initial investment of $US1.58 million\ in the current financial year. The company’s total investment will be$US142milion.
Triton is mainly known so far for its electric SUV, which was first unveiled in 2020.
According to its website, Triton is now also planning an electric prime mover, however not many details have been released apart from the sentence:
“The state-of-the-art Semi Truck with 300KWh battery and Hydrogen Cell stack is our first production-ready electric vehicle”.
