Volvo has announced the first of its new flagship FH16 780 horsepower prime movers with an XXL cabin to roll off its Wacol production line in Brisbane has been delivered to major East Coast dairy haulage company, SRH Milk Haulage.
Volvo revealed that the 120-ton rated prime mover will be put to work pulling an A-Double tanker combination between sites on the NSW Central and Northern Coasts.
Scott, Regina and Mitchell Harvey, of SRH were on hand at Volvo Group Australia’s Wacol facility to mark the occasion and see their new truck come to life.
Volvo says the new Brisbane built FH16 780 showcases the advantages of local manufacturing and engineering with features such as a crawler gear equipped new generation I-Shift transmission, as well as Volvo Dynamic Steering with Pilot Assist, along with what is currently the most powerful truck engine available in Australia.
“Our company has had a long history with Volvo Trucks and knowing these trucks have been engineered and built locally for Australian conditions really makes a difference to us,” said Scott Harvey.
“We operate across three states 24 hours a day 7 days a week, so uptime and productivity are vital for us, milk isn’t something you can leave sitting on the side of the road, and of course we’re really excited to see this truck join our fleet, and I’m pretty sure our drivers will be as well,” he added.
Vice President Volvo Trucks Australia, Tom Chapman said Scott and Regina are more than customers to Volvo.
“They’re family, and it’s been a privilege to see SRH go from strength to strength, and I’m delighted to see this very special truck joins the SRH fleet,” said Chapman.
“With an impressive 3800Nm of torque on tap I’m sure this truck will make short work of hauling an 85-ton combination up and down the Pacific Highway,” he said.
