Hino Australia has announced a new owner for its dealer operations in Tasmania, revealing that experienced local automotive professional, Edward Jones is the new owner of FRM Hino, which operates Hino dealerships in Launceston, Hobart and Devonport.
Hino explained that Jones was formerly the chief operating officer and a director of Local Motor Group, owned by the Tony White Group, and that he is looking forward to returning to his roots in the showroom.
“After an 18 year career in passenger cars including as a former Toyota dealer principal, I’m excited to join and lead the FRM team and join the Hino brand,” said Jones.
“The future is really exciting for FRM Hino – we have an excellent team in place that will continue to deliver exceptional levels of service to our customers,” he said.
“For me, as a born and bred Tasmanian, this is a chance to be a part of a culture and team that is committed to its local community. Over the last seven years, the former owners of FRM Hino relocated all three FRM branches in Hobart, Launceston and Devonport to new and improved premises, and we still have exciting opportunities ahead,” Jones added.
“We are currently in the planning phase for a workshop extension in Launceston to increase the service bay capacity,” he concluded.
Hino Australia’s vice president of brand and franchise development Richard Emery said he welcomed Edward Jones to the Hino team.

“Tasmania remains an important market for Hino with tourism, mining, agriculture and other primary industries presenting opportunities within the light, medium and heavy-duty segments,” the Hino boss added.
“I would also like to pay tribute to former managing director David Mills and the other former owners of the business for their dedication and passion to the Hino brand and business over the last 14 years,” Emery concluded.
