Paccar brand, DAF has announced its technician of the year after the nation’s best DAF techs were judged and refined to a shortlist of five from across Australia.
Andrew Patterson, who works with Kenworth DAF Melbourne, has been named 2022 PACCAR Australia’s DAF Technician of the Year.
Chief engineer for Paccar Australia Noelle Parlier and the company’s aftersales manager, presented the 2022 DAF Technician of the Year award to Andrew, congratulating him on his win and performance on the day.
According to Paccar, the search for the 2022 DAF Technician of the Year began in October 2021, when all service technicians at DAF dealerships across Australia were invited to participate in the competition, which aimed to recognise and reward the best of the best.
Paccar said the initial event consisted of five practical assessments measuring technical skills, product knowledge, engine expertise and professionalism.
The finalists were eventual winner Andrew Patterson, second placed Rudy Linders from Brown and Hurley Kenworth DAF in Caboolture, Stephen Monson of CJD Equipment Hobart who took third place, Christopher Rule also of Kenworth DAF Melbourne who was fourth and fifth placed Nathan Hadlow also from Brown and Hurley Kenworth DAF inCaboolture
The finals were held over a full day on Friday 8th April at Kenworth DAF Melbourne (KDM), where finalists were put through five practical tests that were a combination of electrical, mechanical and system testing.
The finalists received more than $30,000 in prizes, including a voucher for a selection of tools vital to the job, and this year had an additional incentive with the first placed DAF TOTY winner joining the Truck Assist Racing/Matt Stone Racing Team as a garage crew member at this year’s Repco Bathurst 1000.
In addion, the second and third placed DAF TOTY winners will be treated to a weekend Garage Crew experience with Truck Assist Racing/Matt Stone Racing Team at the NTI Townsville 500 Supercars event in July..
