Fuso has unveiled a facelifted version of its light duty Canter range with the revised models boasting what the company says is a new-look exterior along with an upgraded multimedia unit.
Parent company, Daimler Truck Australia, says the revisedCanter, boasts a class-leading payload and longer service intervals than its rivals, and that it now features a new exterior design with LED headlights, which it says are 30 per cent brighter than the ones they replace, while it also has new LED turn lamps on the lower door sections.
The newly revealed updated Canter also gets a new bumper and a fresh grille that is capped with a black strip featuring the Fuso badge, with Fuso saying this styling element is referred to as its ‘Black Belt’ design, which refers to its aesthetic, not any martial arts qualifications. The Black Belt design feature also matches the one that recently debuted on the new generation electric eCanter.
The changes to the light duty Canter range are largely cosmetic, which means Fuso has largely left the truck’s engine and transmissions alone, apart from some minor internal revisions and a slightly larger sump on selected models.
The interior of the Canter remains unchanged having been updated a year or so back.
Daimler Truck says that its Canter customers will benefit from an upgrade to the 8-inch multimedia media unit. The company said that it has taken on customer feedback and added wireless Apple CarPlayand Android Autoconnectivity, which conveniently removes any need for cables and adaptors.
Daimler tells us that the multimedia unit also has upgraded processing and memory performance as well as integrated accessory capabilities. The unit displays vision from the reversing camera, which comes standard with all Canter models, while vision from up to five additional cameras can also be shown on the screen.
Vice President of sales, marketing and operations for Daimler Truck Australia, Andrew Assimo, said the updated Canter will be appreciated by drivers.
“The Fuso Canter has long represented a fantastic business case thanks to its class-leading payload and 30,000km service intervals,” Assimo said.
“This upgrade really adds to its appeal and we know the new features will be welcomed by our customers,” he concluded.
Daimler revealed that all of its Canter models, including the FG 4×4 Canter, will receive the upgrades that come with the facelift.
Fuso ws quick to point out that it was the first brand to introduce Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS) to the light truck class back in 2019 and that this system, along with Lane Departure Warning (LDW), is standard on all Canters except for the off-road oriented 4×4.
