The first glimpses of the 2017 Crafter have been released by Volkswagen ahead of the van’s official unveiling in September.
Crafter is the largest of Volkwagen’s offerings, rivalling the Mercedes Sprinter and will use a new but as yet unspecified architecture on the next generation.
According to the head of commercial design, Albert-Johann Kirzinger turned to existing customers to assist in development of the next model.
“With the Crafter, a level of surface quality, robustness and the same time high qualitative value are achieved that have never before been available in this commercial vehicle class,” Kirzinger said.
It is expected the Crafter will make it world premiere at the Hanover commercial show in Germany, powered by a four-cylinder diesel.
