Volvo Group Australia has revealed that the new vice president of Volvo Bus Australia after almost three years as the president of Volvo Truck Malaysia.
Peden of course is well known to the Australian truck industry after his time as vicxe president of Volvo Truck Australia until his appointment to Malaysia.
Peden arrived back in Australia just over two weeks ago and has emerged from quarantine to to take up his new role, which has been under the management of David Mead as acting GM of the all important bus operation, following the move by former Volvo bus boss, Lauren Downs to the vice presidency in charge of the UD brand in Australia.
Peden, enters the bus industry at a fascinating juncture in time with the entire industry poised on the edge of a significant turn to zero emission operations, given particularly given the declarations by NSW Transport Minister, Andrew Constance, that all 8000 NSW city route buses would be converted to zero emissionmoperation in just ten years.
T&B News has been told that bus makers have not taken an order for a conventional new diesel engine route bus in Australia in eight months, so clearly the switch is on.
Peden’s knowledge and experience across 15 years with the Volvo Group, and before that with GMH will stand him in good stead as he takes the wheel of Volvo Bus.
