MARLEYS FARM THE BATTERY ELECTRIC TRUCK MARKET

Volvo has revealed that a leading WA based transport provider to the agricultural industry has taken delivery of its first electric truck.

Volvo says that Marley’s Transport, which specialises in transport solutions for the agricultural sector, has firmed up its commitment to the transport industry, by taking delivery of a Volvo FM, the company’s first electric truck.

The Volvo EV, will be integrated into Marley’s fleet to service its customers in transporting produce and supplies to the agricultural industry.

Volvo says Marley’s move aligns with the company’s broader sustainability initiatives and demonstrates dedication to adopting innovative technologies benefiting both the environment and the agricultural community.

Owner of Marleys Transport, Frank Marley reflected on the company’s progress with the addition of its first electric truck.

“My dad always said, if you don’t stay at the front, you will get left behind,  which is a value we have always lived by,” said Marley.

“For us, this truck signifies our commitment to leading from the front with sustainability and alternative fuels,” he added.

Marley’s Transport says it will continue to explore opportunities to expand its fleet and adopt other eco-friendly practices to further its sustainability goals, continuing in its philosophy of leading from the front.

Volvo Trucks Australia vice president, sales and marketing, Tom Chapman said Marley’s has a proud history of innovating to find efficiencies across its business.

“I’m sure its pursuit of sustainable transport solutions and its embrace of emerging technology will serve the company well into the future.”

Volvo Trucks says that so far more than 80 battery electric trucks have been delivered in Australia, with Volvo setting a target of having 50 per cent of its global volume as either battery electric or hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks by 2030.

Volvo says that its battery electric trucks are scheduled to be assembled at its local Australian factory at Wacol in Brisbane from 2028.
