LET THERE BE LIGHT – SPECIALIST LIGHTING COMPANY NARVA LAUNCHES NEW LED DRIVING LIGHTS

Lighting specialist company, Narva has revealed  the latest version of its Ultima LED driving light range,  with a new light that it claims has 30 per cent more  effective output that the previous model it supercedes.

Narva says that its new Ultima 215 MK3 will deliver up to 30 per cent more effective output over the preceding MK2, while also  delivering better durability, control, customisation options and more.

Narva says its MK2 lamps were already acknowledged as Australia’s best hybrid beam pattern driving lights, and  claims that the new MK3 builds on this legacy with  a new spot beam pattern that delivers more than 1,400m, and more than 1,200m for hybrid beam, of forward distance per pair of lamps. Narva says that coupled with the impressive light penetration is  the beam spread of up to 92m, which it says ensures improved hazard detection for safer nighttime driving.

The  company says that the spot beam also features a significantly wider beam width than most other driving lights. However, when compared to the hybrid beam,  and that a deliberate width reduction of 12m allows less light on road signs, to minimise unwanted road sign flare.

Narva engineers developed and tested 60 different LED and optic pairings to achieve the improved performance, which the company claims also includes output of up to 20,157 effective Lumens per lamp. Narva claims its engineers did this before settling on the final combination, which it says includes high performance 10W Cree LEDs.

Narva says that to ensure they met expectations, the new lights were extensively tested in Narva’s Melbourne NATA-approved photometric light lab as well as in on and off-road real-world operation.

Senior brand manager for Narva, James Pearson, said the company was excited to launch the new range, and there was no doubt the Ultima MK3 would set new benchmarks for its product category.

“The original Ultima lamps revolutionised the LED driving lamp market, delivering superior light output, reliability and durability to what was available at the time,” Pearson said.

“The lamps found favour across a wide scope of applications including recreational four-wheel-driving, competitive off-road racing, commercial transport and other industries. This latest offering takes the performance of the original Ultima MK1 and subsequent MK2 lamps to an impressive new level,” he added.

Narva  claims it placed just as much importance on lamp durability as it did on output in developing its MK3 and that ingress protection was upgraded over  the previous MK2 to the maximum IP68 and IP69K.

Narva says that the new light also has a  new overmolded Deutsch connector on a heavy-duty flying lead instead of the integrated DT connector on the previous MK2. the company claims this makes the lights easier to install, especially on bullbars that have less space behind the lamps. Thanks he lights also now feature heavy-duty stainless steel mounting brackets, as well as a wiring harness when lamps are purchased as a pair.

Narva added that its original Ultima range pioneered lamp customisation and  that the new MK3 line-up offers even more options. The company claims that all lamps come with either a Satin bezel on single lamps or black bezels on pairs, and a Narva blue satin bezel or electric blue black bezel trims. Nova says  that customers can redeem their choice of bezels and trims for no extra charge .  The company says this eliminates waste and increases customer choice, no matter what the lamp, and that there are now seven different trim options and two bezels meaning 14 different looks.

Narva claims that all lamps are provided with its hard-coated polycarbonate clear lens protectors and that customers can redeem their choice of either black tinted lens protectors, with two different graphic designs to choose from or selective \yellow lens protectors,  also at no extra cost.

The company says that the selective yellow is ideal for poor conditions  including dust, fog and haze,  and  that it reduces road sign flare and eye fatigue on longer trips. Narva added that while its amber lens covers are not new, the selective yellow covers differ in that they minimise loss of light output. It said that  typically, the amber lens covers reduce effective lumens by 20 per cent or more, and that  the Ultima selective yellow covers only reduce effective output by as little as 10 per cent.

Narva revealed that the new Ultima MK3 LED driving lights, along with its Ultima LED light bar range also feature what it has dubbed, Connect+ technology. It claims that using the Connect+ controller, which is available at extra cost,  allows owners to adjust the beam shape and intensity of their light output to suit their environment and driving conditions and even adjust two light groups independently.

The company says the  controller offers further lighting adjustment with three preset, customisable driving modes. It says that the beam can be set for maximum distance with less spread to avoid road sign flare for highway driving, or the  distance can be reduced with a focus on maximum spread on 4WD tracks, while for more open dirt roads, all the light can be set to its maximum output.

The company also says that there’s also a boost mode that delivers 15 per cent more power for 30 seconds, and  that with its LIN Bus technology, this acts as a single point of control for all Ultima Connect+ enabled products.

Narva said that along with serving the needs of the off-road and off-highway markets, the Ultima MK3 LED driving lights have also been developed with the transport industry in mind, leading it to develop its ‘Transport Kit’.

The  company claims the transport kit offers buyers the convenience and cost effectiveness of getting all the equipment they need to get the very best from the driving lamps in a single package. Narva says the kit includes two hybrid beam lamps, two spot beam lamps, four clear lens protectors and four selective yellow lens protectors, along with an Ultima ‘Smart’ transport harness, which the company says  is designed specifically for large trucks when four lamps are installed.

It says the harness uses heavy gauge wiring and midi fuses, to ensure safety and maximum performance, and the entire kit is wired through the supplied Connect+ Controller, which it claims gives the driver comprehensive control. The company says the  Ultima Smart transport harness also provides a significant reduction in installation time and costs.

Narva says that it  is backing the range with Australia’s first Lifetime ‘No Fault’* Warranty on LED Driving Lights, given the heavy-duty construction and LED circuitry featured in the new Ultima MK3 product line,.

The company says that the ‘No Fault’ portion of the warranty means the user is covered for manufacturing defects, and also for damage due to impact, UV or chemicals, which the company says means that the buyer can be assured of a lifetime of use from their investment.

Narva says that the Ultima MK3 215 is available as a single lamp  with hybrid or spot pattern for a RRP of $700.00 each, or as a hybrid driving kit pair, including harness, for a RRP of 1,450.00, while the Transport Kits (including 4 lamps, harness and Connect+ Controller) sell for $3,700.00 RRP.

Narva  also says it offers harnesses that can be purchased individually, including a 12V harness to suit and 215 models, for two lamps,  at a price of $320.00, a 12V truck harness suitable for four lamps at a RRP of $500.00 and its 12/24V Smart truck harness that’s also suitable for four lamps for $500.00. The Ultima Connect+ Controller is also available separately at a RRP of $219.00.

Narva tells us that the new Ultima MK3 range can be purchased from leading automotive, four-wheel drive and transportation outlets nationwide.
