Finally after many months of waiting, negotiations, speculation and finally confirmation Iveco Australia has announced that the International ProStar will be launched in Australia in 2017.
Iveco which won the distribution rights earlier this year says it will launch with a number of different specification choices to suit a variety of local applications.
Iveco says the truck will be launched in the first quarter of 2017 with day cab, extended cab and integrated full size sleeper cab variants available with a choice of five wheelbases.
The company says all models will be powered by an E5 Cummins X15 SCR engine producing 550 horsepower (410 kW) and 1850 Lb Ft (2,508 Nm) of torque, and operators will be able to select from either manual or fully automatic EATON transmissions.
It claims the model mix will see the ProStar well placed to handle applications including tipper and dog work, single trailer line-haul and 34 pallet B-Double duties.
Among the options list available in the trucks will be a full multimedia system and slim line bullbar to maximise trailer set length for B-Double applications.
The other important detail of the launch, the actual dealer network for International will come in the New Year. Icveco has also confirmed that its own locally-developed and manufactured bonneted Powerstar will continue to be offered for customers who prefer a European driveline.
