HEY WILMA! FLINTSTONES…. MEET THE FLINTSTONES…. BUT NOT THE ONES YOU THOUGHT

When Fred used to yell “Hey Wilma open the door”, on the iconic TV cartoon series, the Flintstones, I don’t think anyone could have imaged a story on a truck website about a Melbourne building and garden supply business and its fleet of Hinos! But here we are, and that is exactly what’s happened.

In fact Flintstones is not Fred and Wilma’s own quarry business one of Victoria’s leading building and garden material suppliers,

The news is  that Flintstones, has  just taken delivery of a brand-new Hino 500 Series FE Standard Cab with a Mini-Mix concrete agitator, which signified an important milestone for Hino Australia, and turns out to be the 150,000th Hino sold in the country

The Hino milestone also coincides with the company starting its 60th year of sales in Australia.

As Hino points out, the new truck  is a far cry from the foot-powered car made famous in the Flintstones cartoon. This new truck is a latest spec 500 Series Standard Cab which the company says, “features high levels of innovation, technology and safety”.

“Hino has always been our preferred supplier of small and medium sized trucks,” said Dominic Barro, general manager of Flintstones Building and Garden Supplies.

“In our business, it is essential that we have a robust, reliable truck that is safe and simple to operate, and Hino has proven this for over four decades,” he continued.

Hino pointed out that Flintstones is family-owned and operates a fleet of 45 Hinos, with have a mixture of tilt trays, agitators and tippers bodies.

“Our tippers transport between two and 14 cubic metres of raw materials such as crushed rock, sand, soil and mulch while our Mini-Mix concrete agitators carry between 0.4 and 3 cubic metres of premixed concrete.”

“We use our tilt trays including crane tray trucks for delivery of concreting supplies such as reinforcing mesh,” Barro added.

Flintstones is a subsidiary of Barro Group, which is a leading independent supplier and distributor of premixed concrete, quarry products and a range of associated products.

President and CEO of Hino Australia, Richard Emery presented a commemorative plaque to Flintstones to celebrate the 150,000th Hino truck.

“Hino Australia honoured to have been the truck of choice for Flintstones for over four decades,” Emery said.

“It is phenomenal to think that we have been supplying trucks to Flintstones for over forty of the sixty years we have been operating in Australia

“It is a tribute to the quality, durability and reliability for which Hino trucks are renowned, and we look forward to the relationship continuing for many years to come,” he concluded.

The 150,000th truck was delivered by Angelo Valerio, Dealer Principal of Bendigo Hino.
