Newly appointed Perth dealer Penske Power Systems has handed over two MAN TGS 26.480 6×2 trucks to local operator Goldstar Transport, with Roger Penske himself delivering the keys.
Managing director at Goldstar, Sean Carren was drawn to the 6×2 MAN when he attended the brand’s ‘Trucknology’ days in Germany.
“Visiting Trucknology Days with Sean in Germany was a great opportunity to demonstrate MAN’s commitment to product development, maintaining low whole‐of‐life costs and maximising efficiency,” said Mark Mello, Penske Commercial Vehicle’s general manager of sales.
“There are many parallels between MAN’s business philosophy and Goldstar Transport, particularly
in the investment in innovation.”
Exploring several options for fleet upgrades, Goldstar Transport was impressed with MAN’s range of features as evident in the demo model provided.
“We trialled a demo truck from Penske for a month which led to us making this decision to purchase the first MANs in our fleet and we are anticipating great results from them,” Carren said.
“MAN offers some of the best technology and safety systems available not to mention great fuel efficiency and with flexibility in wheelbase, chassis models and ground clearance, MAN was very attractive to us.
“These trucks will form part of the new base of our continuous improvement program or our Woolworths operations, which may include more MANs in the future. We are also working with Penske Truck Rental looking at short and long term rental solutions to assist with peak periods in our business.
“We are extremely excited to see the MAN trucks in our fleet and would like to acknowledge the outstanding work by the Penske Commercial Vehicles team. And as a long‐time motorsport enthusiast, I was well aware of Penske and its reputation for excellence so I’m very happy to be working with the Australian Penske operations,” he added.
