According to US business magazine Forbes, American heavy truck brand, Navistar is rumoured to be interested in establishing a joint venture partnership with General Motors.
The rumour follows GM’s announcement last month that Chevrolet will re-enter the US truck market with rebadged light-duty N-series Isuzus.
Navistar has recently ended its partnership with Ford in which it built Ford’s F-650 and F-750 trucks at a plant in Mexico. The factory also built Navistar’s International DuraStar medium-duty truck. Ford is now building the two F-Series trucks at its Avon Lake, Ohio, factory.
It’s speculated that Navistar is looking for another joint venture partner to help spread development costs and fill out its production capacity.
