FOR WHOM THE PENSKE TOLLS – WESTERN STAR AND MAN SELECTED FOR MAJOR TRUCK BUY BY TOLL GROUP

Major truck distributor Penske Australia has revealed that it has been chosen  by logistics giant, Toll Group, as a strategic original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partner, and that it has been contracted to supply more than 180 Western Star and MAN trucks for the company,  with deliveries commencing immediately.

The contract includes the supply of A-double, B-double, and single trailer-rated prime movers in bonneted and cab-over configurations with the potential in future to supply prime movers capable of pulling quad configurations, which Penske claims will deliver a commercially astute Western Star and MAN solution for Toll.

“Our national fleet team worked very closely with the Toll Group to tender a submission that was a bespoke fit for the unique requirements of Toll,” said Craig Lee, executive general manager of on-highway at Penske Australia.

“The Western Star X-Series and the MAN truck generation both have exceptionally efficient fuel burn rates, innovative technology, and an overall total cost of ownership package that is highly attractive,” Lee added.

“Given Toll’s commitment to safety, we are confident that the Western Star and MAN safety packages will surely exceed all requirements,” he said.

“Our team is excited to commence this strategic partnership with the Toll Group, particularly given the synergies in our overarching corporate values that guide our operations,” Lee concluded.

General manager of global fleet management at Toll Group, Shaun O’Flaherty said that fuel efficiency, safety features, and ergonomics were key factors in the selection process.

“We’re confident that the combination of Penske’s partnership together with economical, safe and modern Western Star and MAN fleet will improve the driver experience, safety for all road users, and yield a successful partnership for Toll and its customers for years to come,” he said.

Penske will be supplying Toll with the Western Star X-Series, which the distributor says  boasts ‘legendary Star durability, an advanced safety package, an efficient integrated driveline, and superior comfort’.

The company also claims that MAN’s truck generation has excellent safety features, is highly efficient and environmentally friendly, and provides an exceptionally comfortable driver workspace adding  that the German brand is backed by a 250-year history,
