The propensity for corporate speak never ceases to amaze us here at Truck and Bus News and we were again left scratching our heads the other day when a press release from truck maker Volvo came across our desk.
There was once a time when second hand or used vehicles would be referred to as just that, use or second hand. However it seems now these traditional references have been usurped by a new term. Yes folks Volvo Group Australia it seems has decided to rename the sale of used vehicles as ‘remarketing’
The quaint way of referring to trucks that aren’t brand new. came to us in a press release announcing that the company has appointed Jahra Taylor as its vice president of ‘remarketing’.
Company says that its ‘remarketing’ business provides ‘vital customer support’ through the supply and trading of quality used commercial vehicles, ensuring a premium customer experience throughout Australia. Sounds like used truck sales to us!
“Remarketing plays a critical role in supporting our fleet clients, driving future new truck sales and aligning with our strategic focus on total solutions,” said Volvo Group Australia’s president and CEO, Martin Merrick.
“Jahra’s diverse experience, business acumen and proven ability to strengthen dealer and customer relationships will be pivotal as she leads this important area of our business,” the Volvo boss said.
Taylor joined VGA in 2022, serving as regional finance manager for Volvo Financial Services in Queensland and the Northern Territory with a background in account management.
“We are absolutely committed to customer success, providing transport and business solutions that not only meet but also exceed customer expectations is at the core of everything we do,” said Merrick
“We look forward to seeing Jahra take our remarketing business to the next level,” he added.
We await the appointment of a manager of ‘unused’ truck sales , which of course used to be referred to as mw trucks sales!!
