Penske has announced that it has won a significant contract for Dennis Eagle waste trucks to service Sydney’s Northern Beaches with 40 new Dennis Eagle ‘Elite 2’ trucks being sold to waste management contractor United Resource Management (URM) for use in residential refuse collection for the Northern Beaches Council.
As a local resident of the area we have already witnessed the new trucks in action in our suburb, with a range of bright coloured Dennis Eagles already doing service in the council area.
All of the trucks feature colourful liveries to symbolise the Northern Beaches Council’s promotion of environmental initiatives such as the elimination of single-use plastic products, support of EPA NSW initiatives, and advocacy of White Ribbon Australia.
The 40 trucks include 30 dual-control units with a 4.85m wheelbase, and ten right-hand drive units with 5.35m wheelbase.
“We worked closely with URM to supply Dennis Eagle products that would best suit the residential refuse collection market,” said Kevin Copelin, fleet sales manager, Penske Commercial Vehicles.
“Dennis Eagle is the only vehicle that is designed specifically for waste collection duties in an urban environment.
“With the best direct vision in its class, as recognised by Transport for London with the only 5-star direct vision standard (DVS) rating, Dennis Eagle trucks maximise safety for vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and bike riders.
“The Dennis Eagle package comprises the well-proven combination of Cummins ISL engine, Allison 3500 series transmission, and Dana axles and driveshaft, and is robust, reliable, and simple to maintain.”
David Johnston, CEO of United Resource Management said the safety features of the Dennis Eagle Elite 2 model were paramount in the decision-making process.
“URM is committed to the safety of all road users, residents, and our staff,” said David.
“The safety features of the Dennis Eagle trucks such as low cab entry, reverse smart technology, and best visibility package, align with our commitment to ensuring the wellbeing of the entire community.”
As part of the sale, Penske Commercial Vehicles and local dealer Penske Power Systems Sydney will provide driver training and familiarisation.
