Ford Australia has let us know about some important upgrades coming later in the year for the ever-popular Transit range.
Those changes, due from around the third quarter of 2024, include an upgrade to the infotainment and Driver Assist Technology systems, a new powertrain option, and towing capacity improvements.
The blue-oval brand tells us it’s all about helping Aussie businesses do more with their vehicles, and optimize their operations.
The headline change is an increase to the maximum braked towing capacity and Gross Combined Mass (GCM) for all load-hauling models (bar E-Transit), along with minor increases to payload figures.
The 350L FWD Transit now has a maximum braked towing capacity of 2750kg, and GCM of 6000kg, an increase of 950kg and 1750kg respectively.
Meanwhile, 350L RWD models now boast 3500kg of maximum braked towing capacity, and a 7000kg GCM, increases of 750kg and 900kg compared to the outgoing models.
Dual-wheel 430E Transits in both van and cab-chassis bodies now also have 3500kg towing and 7000kg GCM, up 1100kg and 900kg on the current models.

2024 Ford Transit Towing Capacities:
Inside the cabin drivers will benefit from a new 8-inch semi-digital cluster, providing a modern and sleek cockpit design that allows quick access to important vehicle data.
Additionally, previously exclusive to the E-Transit, all single rear-wheel variants now come equipped with an electronic park brake, freeing up cabin space which saves time for delivery drivers who frequently enter and exit their vehicles.
Push-button start is also coming with the upgrades for all models, as is a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and 360 Degree Camera system.
Minor visual changes also feature, including new black badges and a simplified Blue Oval design.
A new 8F57 eight-speed automatic transmission replaces the six-speed auto as standard for the front-drive 350L LWB Transit van.
Ford says this change means a smoother driving experience and enhanced efficiency for that variant.
